Book Review :
Don't expect an easy read or an easy fix when you decide to conquer reading “Breaking Through Betrayal”. Author and Marriage & Family Therapist, Holli Kenley challenges readers to begin the arduous process of recovering from the scars and emotional injuries of betrayal. Although written in easy to understand language with a straightforward layout, the process is anything but simple.
Everyone has probably suffered betrayal or grief at some point in their lives. Sometimes the wounds are deeper than others, but it is something that everyone should work on overcoming. Ms. Kenley's book explains betrayal from the simplest forms to the most heinous cases and then she sets out a plan for healing and growing. She explains why these feelings occur and empowers the reader to acknowledge the emotions and to grow from them.
Through five steps, which include Right Yourself, Readiness and Rigor, Revive & Restore: Mind Body and Spirit, Release and Renew, and Reframe and Refine, she takes the reader on an incredible journey. By adding journaling, self-assessment and other techniques to the mix, the reader is guided through a curative process. I was especially impressed with the way the book not only taught the reader to heal, but to avoid being victimized or hurt again.
“Breaking Through Betrayal” is a worthwhile and necessary read. I feel so privileged to have been able to read and review this book. I look forward to sharing it with others! I highly recommend this book to everyone.
