MATH,MADNESS AND THE END OF THE WORLD.

This is the story of Henry Kent, father, husband, and superhero. A riveting tale or right versus wrong, of faith versus logic, and of the tenuous nature of reality and sanity.
Fast paced and original in style, the book is a portrait of one man's attempt to maintain his life in the face of madness, torture, and the end of the world.

For fans of Cormac McCarthy, Alan Moore and William Faulkner.

Book Review :

For fans of thought provoking fiction, Flashes and Specks presents a world well known and easily understood, a world of work and family and the everyday, but then the author shows the reader what lies beneath that world. What happens when the things we're sure of become less sure? The style keeps the reader interested, presented in short episodes, similar to a sitcom. The book has many of these allusions to modern life. The chapters reference comic book heroes and even the names are drawn from comic book characters, a point of interest. It is very reminiscent of Cormac McCarthy, who is an obvious influence on the author. Each episode ended with a cliffhanger, another original aspect of the book. The time the author took with each episode and each word is evident, there is always a double meaning. The plot is driven by the characters and the reader has real feel for them, but also is left with questions as the conflict reaches its climax. The actual story is incredibly intriguing, drawing on fears of the rising global tensions, religious fanaticism, and the smaller troubles of bullying and needful children. Perhaps the most fascinating aspect of the book if the use of child, the main character's son as a focal point, and in many ways the conscious of the book. In the end Flashes and Specks proves a very impressive read from a new author.
