Set in today’s times of dramatic climate change in Alaska and neighboring Yukon Territory, this thrilling fictional novel, authored in English, describes the passionate story of the Gwichin-Indians’s fight against Big Oil for the sake of protecting the calving grounds of “their” 120,000-head Porcupine caribou herd in the remote Arctic National Wildlife Refuge from oil drilling. The novel illuminates the fateful encounter of two cultures: the subsistance-based life of a modest society and the greedy hunger of globalization – and of two people: Nora Tetlichi, daughter of the Grand Chief of the Gwichins, and David Turner, typical city boy and son of the mighty chairman of Environ Oil & Gas Corporation of Dallas, Texas.

Juergen Friedrich Boden was born in Hamburg, Germany, and has spent many years of his life studying and working in the Far East, in Canada, and in the USA. Equipped with this knowledge, he has been the editor of more than 25 pictorials with substantial text matter by German, North American and Russian authors, as well as non-fiction books by other renowned authors, on Canada, the US, Siberia, and the Arctic, many of which have been co-published internationally.
As a widely travelled author, Boden is also contributor of essays and travel- and culture-related articles to German newspapers and magazines. More recently, he has also been a co-producer of two TV-documentaries about a multi-cultural canoe expedition through Canada’s North, and a creator of diversified film footage.
Last but not least he is one of the founders and co-owners of Alouette Verlag, a smaller German book publishing house located near Hamburg, which was proud to celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2008.

Book Review :

„Injury“ is an excellent story, well researched and thoroughly exciting! This novel should be made into a thrilling environmental feature film… (B. Ned Kelly, Isle of Wight, U.K.)

The story line of “Injury” is great, well integrated, well balanced, logical, the action is exciting, yet appropriate and credible. The characters are well developed, and the psychological changes and growth of the main characters make a lot of sense. It reads smooth, and every time I read it again, I can feel the story better. (Dr. H. Jindrak, New York state)
